Every Black Panther fan who watched the Oscars last night had high hopes and the movie did not disappoint!
The superhero movie received the awards for Costume Design, as well as Production Design, during the 91st annual Academy Awards ceremony, hosted at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles.
“I dreamed and prayed for this night,” said costume designer Ruth E. Carter, also nominated for an award in the past, for Amistad and Malcolm X.
As for Hannah Breacher, Black Panther’s production designer, she broke down in tears during the acceptance speech for the award for creating the cinematic world of Wakanda.
“I stand here today because of this man who gave me a better perspective of life,” she said, referring to director Ryan Coogler. “I’m stronger because Marvel gave me a chance.”
