There’s no doubt that Black Panther made history, as it was the first superhero movie to be nominated for an Academy Award for ‘Best Picture’.
After becoming a box office success and grossing over $1.3 billion, the movie received a lot of positive feedback. Oh, and as a side note, it also received nominations for Costume Design, Original Score, Original Song, Production Design, Sound Editing, as well as Sound Mixing.
Unfortunately, Black Panther director didn’t receive a nomination and this upset fans. However, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said that he will not allow Ryan Coogler to go unmentioned.
“[Coogler] had a very personal story and struggle to explore, and he wanted to use this movie and this canvas to tell it. Looking over the past year at the cultural impact this movie has had around the world, it feels like the recognition from the Academy this morning is the pinnacle of that,” he said for the New York Times.
