There’s a new start ahead for DMX, as he was just released from the Gilmer Federal Correctional Institution on Friday, two days before the official release date.
The 48-year-old rapper was supposed to get out of prison this Sunday, but federal policy mandated the early release, as the date fell on a weekend.
DMX served a one year sentence at the facility in West Virginia for tax evasion. And he went directly to his family, as the picture posted by TMZ on their official Twitter account shows.
The rapper is now expected to pay more than $2.3 million in federal restitution, but also start outpatient programs for substance abuse and mental health.
Back in March 2018, he was pleading guilty to one count of tax evasion, in a deal he struck with the Attorney’s Office, as he was initially facing 14 counts, which could’ve resulted to 44 years in prison.
